LAHORE: The Punjab Assembly convened for the swearing-in ceremony of its newly elected members, among whom Maryam Nawaz was nominated for the position of Chief Minister Punjab.
Speaker Sibtain Khan administered the oath to the assembly members, which included 201 representatives from the PML-N.
Despite a delay of over two hours, the session commenced under the chairmanship of Speaker Sibtain. Upon Maryam Nawaz’s arrival, the assembly resonated with enthusiastic slogans, with PML-N members displaying fervor by raising continuous chants and displaying images of Nawaz Sharif.
Marriyum Aurangzeb, a prominent figure within the PML-N, also took her oath as a member of the Punjab Assembly for the first time.
This inaugural session marks the beginning of the provincial assembly’s proceedings following the general elections held on February 8. The session’s outset witnessed spirited exchanges between members of the PML-N, PTI, and the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC), with slogans and heated words exchanged among them.
