Lahore, November 28, 2024 – The National Transmission and Despatch Company (NTDC) has improved power transmission by installing a second 250 MVA autotransformer at the 220 kV Grid Station in WAPDA Town, Lahore. This step aims to increase the grid’s electricity handling capacity.
The Project Delivery (North) team in Lahore completed the replacement of the old 160 MVA, 220/132 kV autotransformer (T-2) with the new 250 MVA unit. This project is a significant part of the World Bank-funded National Transmission Modernization Project (NTMP-1).
The latest power transmission upgrade will boost the grid’s capacity and ensure a reliable supply of electricity to Lahore and nearby areas. The improved infrastructure will benefit residential, commercial, and industrial users. These consumers, served by the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO), can expect fewer disruptions and more stable electricity.
Engr. Muhammad Waseem Younas, Managing Director of NTDC, praised the Lahore team for completing this critical project earlier than planned. The team finished the work ahead of the approved shutdown schedule, ensuring minimal impact on consumers.
This power transmission upgrade represents a significant step in reducing transmission challenges and improving electricity reliability in the region.
