ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Azerbaijan have agreed to significantly boost bilateral trade and investment from $100 million to $2 billion.
The two nations signed 15 memorandums of understanding (MoUs) and agreements encompassing various sectors, including trade, tourism, minerals, science and technology, law and justice, and cultural exchange programs.
These MoUs were signed during Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev’s two-day official visit to Pakistan earlier this month.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev and Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on July 11.
These agreements coincide with the Prime Minister of Pakistan’s upcoming visit to Azerbaijan in November this year where both countries will ink agreements worth $2bn.
The Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) played a pivotal role in providing facilitation and a joint platform for these agreements.
Currently, bilateral trade between the countries stands at one million dollars.
