ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has confirmed its 18-member squad for the upcoming Paris Olympics, featuring athletes from athletics, shooting, and swimming. The national team is set to compete on the global stage when the games commence on July 26.
During the opening ceremony, either shooter Kishmala Talat or javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem is expected to lead the Pakistani contingent. Arshad Nadeem and Faiqa Riaz will represent Pakistan in athletics, aiming to excel in their respective events.
The shooting team, comprising Ghulam Mustafa Bashir, Kishmala Talat, and Gulfam Joseph, will be supported by coaches Gandy and Junaid Ali. Meanwhile, the swimming team includes Ahmed Durrani, Ahmad Ali Khan, and Jahan Ara, accompanied by team officials Haji Mohammad Shafiq and Javed Lodhi.
Following a medal-less outing at the Tokyo Olympics, Pakistan’s hopes are pinned on Arshad Nadeem’s potential breakthrough in the javelin throw. The first phase of the delegation’s departure is scheduled for July 19 with the shooting team, followed by swimmers and officials on July 22, and the athletics team on July 24.
