The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) took decisive action on Tuesday, removing the entire selection committee in the wake of the national team’s underwhelming performance in the ICC World Cup 2023. Tauseef Ahmed, Wajahatullah Wasti, and Wasim Haider were relieved of their duties by PCB management committee chairman Zaka Ashraf.
An announcement regarding the composition of the new selection committee is anticipated within the next two days. The PCB is reportedly considering appointing a new chief selection committee from the pool of former cricketers.
Former chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq and bowling coach Morne Morkel had previously resigned from their positions. The meeting, attended by prominent figures such as Mohammad Hafeez, Sohail Tanvir, and Wahab Riaz, likely focused on matters related to the selection committee.
The PCB’s decision reflects its commitment to addressing the team’s performance issues and reshaping the selection process for future tournaments. Sources said that former cricketer Mohammad Hafiz emerged as top runner for a key role in PCB. PCB management committee chairman Zaka Ashraf also invited him for meeting.
