London: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly criticized the former Imran Khan-led PTI government on Monday for allowing TTP terrorists (Fitna al-Khawarij) to resettle in Pakistan, declaring it the main reason behind the surge in terrorism across the country.
He assured that Pakistan’s armed forces and law enforcement agencies are determined to completely eliminate this menace, while also pointing out that “foreign forces do not want to see Pakistan progress.”
Gaza Ceasefire Call
During his interaction with Pakistani journalists in London, Shehbaz Sharif shed light on his participation in various global forums, including his recent visit to the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). He said one significant meeting focused on Gaza, where he demanded an immediate ceasefire to stop Israeli atrocities. The prime minister expressed hope that the initiative would bring positive results soon.
Trade and Investment Talks with the US
The prime minister also discussed his meeting with US President Donald Trump at the White House, where talks centered on trade and investment opportunities in Pakistan’s mineral sector. Trump reportedly assured him of expanding mutual cooperation in this area.
Strategic Defence Pact with Saudi Arabia
Shehbaz Sharif further recalled his visit to Saudi Arabia, highlighting the signing of a Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement. He clarified that the pact is not aimed against any specific country but reinforces Pakistan’s commitment to safeguarding the Two Holy Mosques (Haramain Sharifain).
“We will not hesitate to make any sacrifice for the protection of Haramain Sharifain,” he declared.
Pakistan-India Conflict and Kashmir Issue
On regional security, the prime minister reminded that Pakistan defeated India in a four-day war, proving the strength of the nation’s armed forces. “The Pakistani military taught India a lesson it will never forget,” he remarked.
However, he admitted that if the conflict had dragged on, both nations would have suffered immense losses. Shehbaz expressed gratitude to Trump for facilitating a ceasefire at that time.
At the UNGA, he also raised the Kashmir dispute and Indus Waters Treaty issues, reaffirming Pakistan’s resolve to highlight these critical matters at international platforms.
