ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to visit China from June 4 to 8 at the invitation of President Xi Jinping, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA).
During this three-part trip, the Prime Minister will travel to the cities of Xi’an and Shenzhen, in addition to Beijing, as announced by Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch during her weekly press briefing.
In Beijing, Shehbaz Sharif will meet President Xi Jinping and conduct delegation-level talks with Premier Li Qiang. He will also hold discussions with Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, as well as with heads of key government departments.
A key aspect of the visit will be meetings with executives from leading Chinese companies in sectors such as oil and gas, energy, ICT, and emerging technologies.
In Shenzhen, the Prime Minister will address the China-Pakistan Business Forum, engaging with prominent businesspersons, entrepreneurs, and investors from both nations. He will also tour Economic and Agricultural Zones in China.
This visit underscores the robust Pakistan-China friendship, characterized by frequent high-level exchanges and dialogues. The discussions will focus on enhancing the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership, upgrading the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, boosting trade and investment, and strengthening cooperation in security and defense, energy, space, science and technology, education, and cultural exchanges. These talks aim to set the future direction of Pakistan-China relations.
China Awaits Shehbaz Sharif’s Visit
The Chinese foreign ministry expressed anticipation for Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit, viewing it as an opportunity to foster greater joint development. Spokesperson Mao Ning, during her regular briefing, emphasized that the visit would enhance the China-Pakistan all-weather strategic partnership and build a closer community of shared destiny in the new era.
Mao Ning highlighted the enduring and resilient nature of the China-Pakistan friendship, noting that it has withstood various challenges and remains as steadfast as ever.
