The Joint Investigation Team (JIT), formed by the federal government, has summoned 15 key leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for allegedly running an anti-Pakistan propaganda campaign on social media. Authorities are probing the threat posed to national security by this online activity.
Among those summoned are Gohar Ali Khan, Hammad Azhar, Salman Akram Raja, Raoof Hasan, Asad Qaiser, Aun Abbas, and Waqas Akram. Other PTI members facing inquiries include Firdous Shamim Naqvi, Khalid Khurshid Khan, Aliya Hamza, Kanwal Shauzab, Taimoor Saleem Khan, Shah Farman, Shehbaz Shabbir, and Mian Muhammad Aslam. These individuals have been directed to appear before the JIT today at 12 PM.
The investigation team, led by Islamabad Inspector General of Police Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, is examining the harmful effects of PTI’s online campaigns. Authorities believe these activities spread anti-state narratives, damaging Pakistan’s national security. Officials warn that such propaganda threatens stability, unity, and public trust in state institutions.
Sources confirm that this probe also includes PTI’s social media wing. Previously, 10 key members of PTI’s digital team were summoned. Those individuals include Asif Rasheed, Muhammad Arshad, Sibghatullah Warq, Azhar Mashwani, Muhammad Nauman Afzal, Jibran Ilyas, Syed Salman Raza Zaidi, Zulfi Bukhari, Moosa Warq, and Ali Husnain Malik. Investigators are analyzing their role in online disinformation aimed at weakening Pakistan’s institutions.
Authorities stress that PTI’s digital strategy has fueled anti-Pakistan narratives, affecting public perception and national integrity. Security analysts warn that such coordinated misinformation campaigns can be exploited by foreign entities to destabilize Pakistan. The JIT is determined to hold those responsible accountable and safeguard Pakistan’s national security.
