LAHORE: Punjab government on Tuesday suspended Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz supremo Nawaz Sharif’s sentence in the Al-Azizia Steel Mills corruption case.
The Provincial Caretaker Cabinet has utilized its authority under Section 401 of the Criminal Procedural Code to temporarily halt the sentence of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in the Al-Azizia reference.
Section 401 empowers the government to suspend the punishment of an offender, and this measure was already applied prior to Nawaz Sharif’s departure to London in 2019.
