PESHAWAR: Seven security personnel, including two officers, were martyred in a terrorist attack on a security forces’ post and subsequent clearance operation in North Waziristan in the early hours of Saturday, a statement from ISPR said.
The military’s media wing reported that a group of six terrorists attacked a security forces’ post in Mir Ali of North Waziristan District. Despite the initial foiling of the intrusion attempt, the terrorists resorted to ramming an explosive-laden vehicle into the post, followed by multiple suicide bombings. This resulted in the collapse of a portion of a building, leading to the martyrdom of five brave soldiers.
The martyred personnel were identified as Havildar Sabir (from District Khyber), Naik Khurshid (from District Lakki Marwat), Sepoy Nasir (from District Peshawar), Sepoy Raja (from District Kohat), and Sepoy Sajjad (from District Abbottabad).
During the subsequent clearance operation, led by Lieutenant Colonel Kashif, all six terrorists were effectively engaged and killed.
In the intense exchange of fire, Lieutenant Colonel Syed Kashif Ali (39 years old, resident of Karachi) and Captain Muhammad Ahmed Badar (23 years old, resident of District Talagang) displayed exemplary bravery, sacrificing their lives in the line of duty.
The ISPR emphasized that sanitization operations are underway to eliminate any remaining terrorists in the area, reaffirming Pakistan’s determination to eradicate terrorism from the country. Such sacrifices of brave soldiers only serve to strengthen the resolve of the nation’s security forces.
