The Sohail Afridi Chief Minister case has been scheduled for hearing on September 14, with the Federal Constitutional Court taking up a petition challenging his election as the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The petition was filed by former National Assembly member and PTI leader Sher Afzal Marwat, who has asked the court to declare Sohail Afridi ineligible to hold the provincial chief minister’s office.
Sohail Afridi Disqualification Petition
In his petition, Sher Afzal Marwat has also requested the restoration of Ali Amin Gandapur as Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Marwat’s legal challenge argues that Sohail Afridi was nominated for the chief ministerial position by PTI founder Imran Khan, who, according to the petition, is currently serving a sentence.
The Federal Constitutional Court has fixed the petition for hearing and initiated the required legal process, including issuing notices to the relevant parties.
The September 14 proceedings are expected to focus initially on whether the petition is maintainable. The court may also hear arguments concerning the legal issues surrounding Sohail Afridi’s election as Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
