Pakistan’s cricket captain, Babar Azam, is on the brink of breaking several records as the team gears up to face England in the first match of a four-game T20I series at Headingley (Leeds) today, ahead of the highly anticipated ICC T20I World Cup 2024.
One of the most notable milestones within his reach is surpassing 4000 runs in T20I cricket. Babar needs just 45 more runs to overtake the current top Pakistani run-scorer, highlighting his exceptional skill and consistency. Currently, he is the third-highest run-scorer in T20I cricket, behind only Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.
Additionally, Babar requires just 82 more runs to surpass Virat Kohli’s total of 4037 T20I runs. The current standings have Kohli at 4037 runs, Rohit Sharma at 3974 runs, and Babar Azam at 3955 runs.
Babar is also on the verge of becoming the only captain to achieve 2500 T20I runs, reinforcing his status as an outstanding player and leader whose contributions drive his team to success.
Recently, during the T20I series against Ireland, Babar set a new record for the most T20I wins as a captain, with 45 victories, surpassing Brian Masaba’s record of 44 wins as captain for Uganda.
As Babar continues to set and break records, he further cements his legacy as one of cricket’s greatest players. Pakistan’s four-match T20I series against England kicks off on May 22nd at the Headingley Cricket Ground in Leeds.
