A devastating accident on the Indus Highway at Ambiri Kallah Chowk has claimed 13 lives and injured 25 others. The tragic collision involved a 22-wheeler trailer, a passenger flying coach, and several other vehicles.
The crash occurred when the trailer, reportedly suffering from brake failure, collided with the coach. It also struck several other vehicles in its path. According to the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Karak, the incident happened late in the afternoon.
The trailer’s brake malfunction caused it to overturn onto the coach, crushing it completely. “The brake failure triggered a chain reaction, leading to immense loss of life,” said DC Karak. The force of the collision damaged other vehicles, worsening the situation.
Rescue operations are ongoing, with authorities racing to recover more bodies. Several survivors have been pulled from the wreckage. The injured victims were rushed to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital in Karak. Hospitals in the area have been placed on red alert to manage the influx of critically injured patients.
Emergency responders are working tirelessly to clear the debris. Medical teams remain on high alert as the death toll is expected to rise. The scale of this traffic disaster has left the community shaken and raised concerns about road safety on the Indus Highway.
