Indian singer and musician Vishal Dadlani has come forward to support Kalwinder Kaur, a female security officer who slapped Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut at Chandigarh airport. The incident stemmed from a disagreement over Ranaut’s remarks about farmers, which led to Kaur’s suspension by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).
Kangana Ranaut, known for her controversial statements and outspoken nature, reportedly made comments perceived as disrespectful towards farmers, provoking Kaur to slap her in a moment of anger. Vishal Dadlani, reacting to the incident, expressed his understanding of Kaur’s frustration. “I do not support violence,” Dadlani stated, “but I can understand the anger that led to this incident.” He added that if Kaur lost her job over the incident, he would help her find employment elsewhere, highlighting his empathy and support for individuals who take a stand under challenging circumstances.
The incident has sparked widespread debate on social media, with mixed reactions from the public. While some condemn the act of violence, others empathize with the officer’s reaction, considering the tense climate surrounding the farmers’ protests. The CISF’s decision to suspend Kaur has further fueled discussions about the appropriate response to such situations and the balance between professional conduct and personal convictions.
On June 6, during a security check-in at Chandigarh airport as she was departing for New Delhi, Kangana Ranaut was slapped by CISF officer Kalwinder Kaur. Ranaut, also a politician, criticized the Hindi film industry for not commenting on the incident. In a now-deleted Instagram story, she addressed the industry’s silence, comparing the situation to potential future attacks on film industry members for their stance on international issues.
Ranaut posted another story on Instagram, warning about the repercussions of celebrating such acts of violence. She claimed that after completing the security check, she was slapped by Kaur, who cited support for the farmers as the reason.
Following the incident, Kaur was suspended indefinitely, and an FIR was filed against her. CISF officials have set up a probe panel to investigate Ranaut’s allegations. Ranaut later posted a video message on social media, stating that she was safe but expressed concern over the rise in violence in Punjab.
