Karachi: Veteran Pakistani actress Bushra Ansari has expressed anger over a viral video in which her mimicry was performed on social media.
The video, which recently went viral, sparked debate online. During a private TV show, Bushra Ansari was asked about her reaction to the mimicry and why she objected, especially since imitation has been a part of entertainment in the past.
Responding to the question, Bushra Ansari said she had previously performed mimicry of famous personalities in a respectful manner. She mentioned that she imitated the singing styles of Tahira Syed, Noor Jehan, Musarrat Nazir, and Salma Agha without using inappropriate language.
She explained that those performances were based on well-written poetry and did not include any disrespectful or personal remarks about the artists.
Bushra Ansari said the recent viral mimicry crossed limits and did not maintain basic respect. She added that the performance was not appropriate and lacked quality.
The actress also shared that Veena Malik had once mimicked her in the past, and she appreciated it because it was done well.
She further revealed that she was once encouraged to imitate singer Naheed Akhtar, but she refused as she felt she could not do justice to it.
Bushra Ansari stressed that mimicry should remain within respectful boundaries and should not target anyone’s personality in a negative way.
