ISLAMABAD: Today (Friday) marks the deadline for the submission of nomination papers for the 2024 general elections scheduled for February 8, 2024.
Following the requests for an extension from Mutahidda Qoumi Movement (MQM) and Jamat-e-Ulema Islami (JUI), the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) have also urged the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to prolong the nomination paper submission period by two days.
As per the ECP’s announcement, the deadline for submitting nomination papers for the 2024 elections is until this evening, and the initial list of candidates will be released tomorrow (December 23).
The scrutiny of nomination papers is scheduled to take place from December 24 to 30, and the allocation of election symbols to candidates will occur on January 13. The polling process for the general elections is set to take place on February 8.
