The first phase of voting for the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly has concluded, and unofficial, provisional AJK elections results show the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) emerging as the front-runner, while the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) came in second.
Polling took place on Monday across 13 constituencies spread over the Mirpur division, covering Mirpur, Kotli and Bhimber. Although voting was originally scheduled to close at 5 PM, election authorities extended the window by an additional hour to accommodate voters still waiting in line. Ballot counting wrapped up shortly after.
Full Breakdown of AJK Election Results by Constituency
With all 13 seats in the Mirpur division now counted, the unofficial tally shows PML-N candidates winning nine constituencies, while PPP candidates secured victory in four. Here is how each seat played out.
PML-N candidates were declared winners in LA-1 Mirpur-1, LA-4 Mirpur-4, LA-5 Bhimber-1, LA-6 Bhimber-2, LA-7 Bhimber-3, LA-9 Kotli-2, LA-11 Kotli-4, LA-12 Kotli-5, and LA-13 Kotli-6. PPP candidates won LA-2 Mirpur-2, LA-3 Mirpur-3, LA-8 Kotli-1, and LA-10 Kotli-3.
In LA-1 Mirpur-1, results from all 139 polling stations show PML-N’s Azhar Sadiq winning with 15,427 votes, ahead of PPP’s Muhammad Afsar Shahid, who polled 9,832 votes.
In LA-2 Mirpur-2, all 149 polling stations reported PPP’s Qasim Majeed taking the seat with 12,904 votes, while PML-N’s Azeem Bakhsh Chaudhry finished second with 8,182 votes.
LA-3 Mirpur-3 saw PPP’s Chaudhry Yasir Sultan declared successful with 11,676 votes across all 161 polling stations, with PML-N’s Chaudhry Muhammad Saeed trailing at 9,832 votes.
In LA-4 Mirpur-4, complete results from 162 polling stations gave PML-N’s Chaudhry Rukhsar Ahmed the win with 20,172 votes, ahead of PPP’s Chaudhry Sohaib Arshad, who secured 13,865 votes.
LA-5 Bhimber-1 proved to be one of the closest contests in this round of AJK elections results, with PML-N’s Waqar Ahmed Noor edging out PPP’s Chaudhry Pervaiz Ashraf by roughly 700 votes. Across all 176 polling stations, Noor polled 30,259 votes against Ashraf’s 29,574.
In LA-6 Bhimber-2, PML-N’s Chaudhry Muhammad Razzaq won with 32,732 votes out of 195 polling stations, defeating Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party’s Ali Shan Chaudhry, who received 26,718 votes.
LA-7 Bhimber-3 results, covering 237 polling stations, showed PML-N’s Chaudhry Tariq Farooq winning with 35,490 votes, while independent candidate Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq came second with 25,100 votes.
In LA-8 Kotli-1, PPP’s Zafar Iqbal Malik triumphed with 19,535 votes from 155 polling stations, ahead of PML-N’s Malik Muhammad Nawaz Khan, who polled 11,966 votes.
LA-9 Kotli-2 results from 178 polling stations gave PML-N’s Umair Naeem the seat with 31,080 votes, with PPP’s Javed Iqbal Budhanvi finishing second at 28,509 votes.
In LA-10 Kotli-3, PPP’s Chaudhry Muhammad Yasin won with 12,431 votes across 169 polling stations, while PML-N’s Fateh Mahmood-ul-Hassan trailed with 9,245 votes.
LA-11 Kotli-4 saw PML-N’s Muhammad Asif declared victorious with 26,190 votes out of 206 polling stations, ahead of PPP’s Chaudhry Muhammad Ikhlaq, who received 21,751 votes.
In LA-12 Kotli-5, results from 207 polling stations showed PML-N’s Muhammad Riyasat Khan winning with 35,168 votes, with PPP’s Chaudhry Muhammad Yasin coming second at 30,320 votes.
Finally, in LA-13 Kotli-6, PML-N’s Raja Ayaz Ahmed Khan secured victory with 21,856 votes from 193 polling stations, while Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party’s Nisar Ansar Abdali polled 15,859 votes for second place.
With this phase of the AJK elections results now finalized, attention turns to the remaining constituencies still to vote, as the overall composition of the Legislative Assembly continues to take shape.
