Earlier this week, a child named Ibrahim went missing on Sunday night after falling into an uncovered manhole near Nipa Chowrangi in Gulshan e Iqbal. His death sparked intense anger across the city. Opposition lawmakers condemned the Sindh government and Karachi’s mayor for failing to secure open manholes despite repeated warnings.
During the Assembly session, Jamat e Islami MPA Muhammad Farooq said the grief of Ibrahim’s mother was “unimaginable.” He further noted that “this is the third incident near the BRT Red Line,” raising serious concerns about repeated administrative failures.
