ISLAMABAD: Social media platforms have been flooded with posts claiming that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Hammad Azhar and journalist Shiffa Yousafzai have tied the knot.
The speculation began when journalist Najam Ul Hassan Bajwa tweeted congratulations to a senior PTI official in Lahore who allegedly married a female journalist. In a light-hearted reply, Azhar acknowledged the compliments about his looks but assured his followers that he would share any such news directly if it were true.
Yousafzai also addressed the rumors on her social media, stating, “Dear friends, I have not married anyone; I am being unjustly targeted.” She dismissed the circulating news as false and labeled the discussions as pointless. Yousafzai expressed concern about the societal pressures women face in a male-dominated environment, where they often feel compelled to justify their professional existence.
This isn’t her first encounter with such targeting. She urged social media platforms to remove the misleading posts and called on respectful individuals to refrain from participating in the baseless rumors. She also thanked her supporters for their solidarity.
In parallel, Azhar reiterated that the rumors were unfounded and encouraged people to report accounts spreading misinformation, describing the rumors as distractions from their mission to combat oppression in Pakistan. He urged the public to report the false claims and then move on.
