Punjab’s Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) has intensified its crackdown on terrorism. In a series of intelligence-based operations (IBOs), CTD teams apprehended 162 hardcore terrorists from different areas across the province. The arrests took place in Lahore, Faisalabad, Khanewal, Bahawalnagar, Rawalpindi, Chiniot, Mianwali, Sahiwal, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Bahawalpur, and Hafizabad.
According to a CTD spokesperson, two extremists linked to Fitna al-Khwarij were captured in Lahore. Additionally, a notorious terrorist named Manmohan Singh was arrested in Rawalpindi. He was a resident of Rahim Yar Khan and was allegedly planning unlawful activities.
During these operations, security forces seized a huge cache of explosives. Among the recovered items were three IED bombs, 23 detonators, 61 feet of protective fuse wire, pamphlets, cash, and mobile phones. These materials were reportedly meant for carrying out terrorist activities in Punjab.
Authorities identified some of the detained individuals as Salah Raza, Mohammad Riaz, Buwal Khan, Mohammad Younus, Usman, and Manmohan Singh, among others. Investigators believe these men were plotting attacks to create unrest in the region.
The CTD spokesperson further disclosed that, in the current week alone, law enforcement officials interrogated 2,231 suspects. Additionally, security personnel conducted 495 combing operations, leading to the detention of 87,565 individuals for investigation.
The CTD reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring Punjab’s safety. Officials stressed their resolve to eliminate terrorism and maintain peace across the province.
