Lahore (January 28, 2026): Australia cricket team captain Mitchell Marsh expressed surprise at Pakistan’s cold weather after his team arrived for the upcoming three-match T20I series.
Pakistan is currently experiencing an unusual cold wave, with temperatures dropping across several cities. While locals are both enjoying and struggling with the chilly conditions, the visiting Australian players were also caught off guard.
Speaking at the pre-series press conference during the trophy unveiling ceremony, Marsh said he did not expect such cold weather in Pakistan and admitted that he had not packed enough warm clothing for the tour.
“We are very happy to be in Pakistan,” Marsh said. “This series is important for our World Cup preparations, and the team is excited to play here.”
The Australian captain added that most members of Australia’s World Cup squad are part of the tour and the team aims to use the series to prepare well for the mega event.
Marsh noted that playing in Pakistani conditions would not be easy. “We will try to attack the spinners according to the conditions. The final playing XI will be decided tomorrow,” he said.
He also praised Pakistan’s fast-bowling tradition, saying, “Pakistan has a great history of fast bowlers. Shaheen Shah Afridi is one of the best in the current era and will be a big challenge for us in this series and the World Cup.”
