GILGIT: At least four people were killed and five others injured on Wednesday when a jeep carrying tourists fell into a ravine in the Basho Valley of Skardu.
According to the spokesperson for the Gilgit-Baltistan government, the vehicle was carrying nine tourists, all from Punjab. Rescue 1122 teams from Rondu and Ghamba quickly responded to the accident, transporting the deceased and injured to the Regional Headquarters Hospital and Benazir Hospital in Gamba, Skardu.
Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Haji Gulbar Khan expressed deep sorrow over the incident. He took notice of the accident, extended his condolences to the bereaved families, and directed the Secretary of Health and administrative authorities to ensure the best possible care for the injured.
Additionally, he ordered the prompt transportation of the deceased’s bodies to their respective hometowns.
