ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has terminated the basic membership of party leader and Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Sher Afzal Marwat.
In a statement signed by PTI Additional Secretary General Firdous Shamim Naqvi, it was announced that Sher Afzal Marwat was previously on a notice period. The Disciplinary Committee, during this period, determined that Marwat had shown disregard for party rules, considering himself above them.
PTI’s declaration asserted that if Sher Afzal Marwat is an honorable person, he should also resign from his National Assembly membership. The party had issued a show-cause notice to Marwat in July after he made controversial statements. Despite responding to the notice, his response was deemed unsatisfactory by the party.
The notice issued to Marwat stated that he had failed to provide satisfactory answers to the allegations, and his statements against party leaders could not be ignored. Following this, PTI founder Imran Khan directed the party leadership to suspend Marwat’s membership and act against those violating party policies.

Interestingly, party chairman Barrister Gohar said, “I don’t know who is issuing instructions and who is making decisions. It has not been brought to my knowledge that Imran Khan has issued any such instructions.”
He further questioned how the membership of Sher Afzal Marwat was terminated when no committee even called him. “I will meet Imran Khan today, put the whole situation before him, and return this notification.” Marwat is a member of our party and loyal to the PTI founder.
