Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan summoned Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur for an important Imran Khan meeting inside Adiala Jail. Khan voiced his serious concerns over the controversial Mines and Minerals Bill during this session.
Sources revealed that during a separate Imran Khan meeting with lawyers on Tuesday, he had already shared his reservations. In that meeting, Khan also expressed strong anger toward Sher Afzal Marwat’s recent remarks. He instructed PTI’s Information Secretary Waqas Akram to issue a sharp response, declaring, “Sher Afzal Marwat was planted inside PTI.”
Along with addressing Marwat’s behavior, Khan stressed the need for urgent clarification on the Mines and Minerals Bill. He ordered Chief Minister Gandapur to explain the bill’s full impact in the next Imran Khan meeting.
Imran Khan also criticized PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan. He felt Gohar’s soft approach toward recent events was not acceptable.
During the Imran Khan meeting, he also issued guidelines for PTI’s Foundation Day celebrations on April 25. He urged the leadership to overcome internal rifts immediately.
Additionally, Khan directed Secretary General Salman Akram Raja to write to the Chief Justice of Pakistan. The letter would protest the law’s non-implementation.
Speaking about political matters, Khan said, “It is not appropriate for Maulana Fazlur Rehman to oppose every contact. We must work together for the country and its people.”
Khan also criticized the government’s delay in holding talks with Afghanistan, highlighting the long-standing neglect in foreign diplomacy.
During this Imran Khan meeting, legal experts Usman Gul and Faisal Malik gave a detailed briefing on legal challenges. Advocate Faisal Farid Chaudhry later told the media that six lawyers were approved to meet Khan, but only two—Naeem Haider Panjhuta and Usman Gul—managed to enter. Jail authorities blocked the others.
Faisal Farid assured the media that “Imran Khan’s health is good,” but Khan was upset that his sisters were denied visiting rights. Faisal confirmed that the legal team would soon write to the Chief Justice.
He also raised concerns about Bushra Bibi’s mistreatment and the lack of court hearings for PTI cases.
PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja, speaking from the Gorakhpur checkpoint, criticized the ongoing restrictions. He called it “childish coercion” and questioned the repeated violation of constitutional rights.
Meanwhile, Khan’s sisters and cousins were denied access to him at Adiala Jail after waiting for over two hours. Noreen Niazi explained that jail officials first promised a meeting but later said the visiting time had expired.
Qasim Khan, another family member, also confirmed they were assured twice of a meeting but were later turned away. The family left without seeing the PTI founder, adding more frustration to the already tense situation around each Imran Khan meeting.
