KARACHI: An Indonesian airplane has been stranded at Karachi airport for the past 8 months due to a technical issue.
Aviation sources reported that the Indonesian flag carrier, Garuda International Airlines, had an ATR 72-600 aircraft stuck at Karachi airport since its landing from Mutala Rajapaksa Airport Hambantota in Sri Lanka on July 26. The aircraft was scheduled to continue its journey to the United Arab Emirates after refueling in Karachi. However, a technical problem arose in one of the engines before takeoff from Karachi.
Although the engine underwent repairs, a test flight revealed that the issue persisted, preventing the aircraft from departing.
Notably, the flight crew, who experienced the ordeal, traveled to Jakarta, Indonesia, using another aircraft provided by the Indonesian aviation company.
