Iran warns US that continued pressure and naval restrictions against Tehran could trigger a dangerous escalation in the Sea of Oman and across the Gulf region. Iranian officials issued fresh threats as tensions between Washington and Tehran continued to grow despite ongoing diplomatic efforts.
Mohsen Rezaei, a senior member of Iran’s Expediency Council and former Revolutionary Guard commander, warned the United States to remove restrictions targeting Iranian ports. He said the Iranian military was fully prepared for further confrontation if pressure continued.
Speaking on state television, Rezaei warned that the Sea of Oman could become a graveyard for US forces if the blockade remained in place. He described the American restrictions as an act of war and said Tehran had the right to defend its maritime interests.
Iran warns US at a time when military and political tensions remain high in the Gulf region. Iranian officials have repeatedly accused Washington of trying to tighten control over shipping routes near the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important oil transit points.
The warning came shortly after Saudi Arabia announced that it had intercepted and destroyed three drones entering its airspace from Iraq. Saudi officials said the Kingdom would take all necessary measures to protect its sovereignty and national security.
The UAE also condemned the drone attacks and expressed support for Saudi Arabia. Emirati authorities later confirmed that a separate drone strike caused a fire near the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant in Abu Dhabi. Officials said the incident caused no injuries and did not affect radiation safety levels.
Iran warns US as regional fears continue to grow over the possibility of a wider conflict involving Gulf states, Israel, and American forces. Iranian military officials have also threatened action against foreign naval operations near Iranian waters and the Sea of Oman.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump renewed pressure on Tehran. In a post on Truth Social, Trump warned Iran to act quickly or face severe consequences as negotiations remain stalled.
Iranian media claimed Washington had failed to offer meaningful concessions in recent talks, increasing concerns that diplomatic efforts could collapse. The deadlock has added more uncertainty to an already unstable Middle East situation.
