PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly Speaker Babar Saleem Swati has urged the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) to promptly allocate reserved seats to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in accordance with Supreme Court orders.
In a detailed two-page letter to the CEC on Friday, Swati emphasized the need for immediate action regarding the reserved seats in the assembly. As the custodian of the KP Assembly, he expressed that any delay in allocation violates the principles of justice, especially following the Supreme Court’s ruling.
Babar Saleem Swati stated, “I am the custodian of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, which is why I wrote this letter.” He referenced the Supreme Court’s decision regarding the appeal against the Peshawar High Court’s ruling on reserved seats, asserting that the court’s directive must be honored without delay.
The speaker highlighted that the Supreme Court’s ruling is based on constitutional grounds, and any postponement would undermine both the Constitution and the principles of fair play.
Earlier on Thursday. speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq had wrote a letter to the ECP asking them that reserved seats can’t be allocated to PTI after the new law passed by the Parliament.
