Major General Faisal Naseer of the Pakistan Army has taken charge as the new National Coordinator of the National Counter Terrorism Authority, commonly known as NACTA. The Establishment Division confirmed the three-year appointment in a notification.
The posting carries immediate effect and has received formal clearance from the federal government. Major General Faisal Naseer joins NACTA on secondment, a move made under Section 9(1) of the NACTA Act, 2013.
Details of the Notification
Dated September 4, 2026, the Establishment Division’s order specifies that the officer will hold the NACTA National Coordinator role for three years under standard service terms outlined in JSI-4/85. Unless revised by subsequent orders, the appointment stays in effect for the full tenure.
The notification originated from the Cabinet Secretariat’s Establishment Division in Islamabad and is scheduled for publication in the upcoming edition of the Gazette of Pakistan, Part-I. As per standard procedure, the Establishment Division has asked Major General Faisal Naseer to submit his charge assumption report to the concerned section officer.
Distribution of the notification extended to major government bodies, including the offices of the President and Prime Minister, along with the Cabinet Division and Interior Division. Copies were also forwarded to the chief secretaries of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, and Sindh, in addition to NACTA’s own office and the accounting authorities at both federal and provincial levels.

Major General Faisal Naseer brings substantial background in counter-terrorism operations to his new post. His selection comes at a time when Pakistan’s security forces remain actively engaged in operations across Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
