LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced sanctions against fast bowler Haris Rauf following an inquiry into his refusal to join Pakistan’s Test squad for the 2023–24 tour of Australia.
After conducting a thorough investigation, including hearings involving all concerned parties, the PCB has decided to terminate Haris Rauf’s central contract, effective from December 1, 2023. Furthermore, he will not be granted a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to participate in any foreign league until June 30, 2024.
Haris Rauf was given the opportunity for a personal hearing on January 30, 2024, in line with principles of natural justice. However, his response during the hearing was deemed unsatisfactory by the PCB.
The PCB stressed that representing Pakistan is a prestigious honor for any athlete. Refusal to join Pakistan’s Test squad without providing a medical report or a justifiable reason is considered a serious breach of the central contract.
