ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was scheduled to oversee the performance evaluation of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) officials today, as per sources.
Reports indicated that the premier had called for a meeting with FBR officials, instructing them to convene at Model Town in Lahore.
Sources revealed that during the meeting, the Prime Minister would receive a briefing on tax collection.
In a separate development, it was noted that PM Shehbaz was anticipated to nominate Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Nawaz Sharif as the party president during crucial gatherings scheduled for next Saturday, May 11.
Sources disclosed that meetings of the party’s central executive committee and core committee were slated for May 11, with invitations already dispatched.
As per sources, while no decision had been made regarding other organizational posts, it was expected that the party president position would see a change.
Former interior minister Rana Sanaullah recently disclosed that he personally urged Nawaz Sharif to resume his role as the party president.
Additionally, PML-N senior leader Khawaja Saad Rafique echoed similar sentiments, stating, “There is widespread consensus within the party for Nawaz Sharif to lead as president.”
“He faces no constitutional barriers to assuming the party presidency. Nawaz Sharif has been formally requested to take up this responsibility,” he added.
