Asad Qaiser’s triumph as an independent candidate supported by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in the NA-19 constituency faces legal scrutiny as Maulana Fazal Ali, the candidate from Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam (JUI), has lodged a petition in both the Peshawar High Court (PHC) and the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
The crux of Maulana Fazal’s challenge lies in the alleged discrepancies between two Form-47s submitted by the Returning Officers (RO), raising concerns about the accuracy of the election results.
Alongside these discrepancies, he contends that pre-poll rigging occurred, implicating some ROs in the process.
Maulana Fazal calls for the annulment of Asad Qaiser’s victory notification and advocates for a repoll in NA-19 to ensure fairness and accuracy in the electoral process.
