Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman, Barrister Gohar, has rejected claims about hundreds of martyrs in the D-Chowk protest. Speaking to the media outside Adiala Jail, he clarified the party’s stance.
Barrister Gohar stated that after receiving the final call, they met with the PTI founder. The founder instructed the party to address the issue in parliament. He urged PTI members to raise it in both the Senate and the National Assembly.
Addressing concerns, Barrister Gohar dismissed reports about the founder’s health. He said the PTI founder is in good condition in Adiala Jail. He labeled news about his poor health and absence from Adiala as false. The founder was briefed on the D-Chowk protest and other developments.
According to the PTI Chairman, the founder mentioned 12 martyrs, including Rangers, police officers, and PTI workers. Barrister Gohar firmly disassociated the party from those spreading claims about hundreds of martyrs in the D-Chowk protest.
He condemned all acts of violence during the protest. “Whether we were in Sangjani or elsewhere, firing should not have occurred,” he said. He added that anyone who fired shots was in the wrong. The chairman stressed that reaching D-Chowk was never the goal. Leaders were not instructed to gather there.
Barrister Gohar also mentioned having held five meetings with the Chief Minister. However, he declined to comment on any discussions with the establishment.
This statement clears confusion about the D-Chowk protest, the party’s stance, and the PTI founder’s health. It highlights PTI’s condemnation of violence and commitment to raising the issue in parliament.
