ISLAMABAD: Leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) reacted to the Supreme Court’s verdict on the reserved seats allotment case, which nullified the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and Peshawar High Court’s rulings.
PTI Chairman Barrister Ghauhar Ali Khan expressed joy over the Supreme Court of Pakistan’s (SCP) decision, calling it a victory for democracy in Pakistan.
“This decision will be remembered in history. We have secured our rights. They claimed our rights were under attack, but today, 11 judges ruled in our favor,” he stated.
“The decision came with an 8-5 majority,” he added.
“There is a demand for the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to issue court orders. Our intraparty certificate should be issued this week.
“The greatest contribution was from KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, who delayed the oath in the KP Assembly. There is no question of re-election,” the PTI chairman said.
Commenting on Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa reading the dissenting note of Justice Jamal Mandohel, he remarked, “Faiz Isa did not do anything unusual.”
PTI counsel in the SIC reserved seat case, Salman Akram Raja, said, “Today is a golden day in Pakistan’s history. We have won the legal battle and will win the democratic one too.”
“Our goal is to bring democracy to Pakistan,” he affirmed. PTI former senator Shibli Faraz claimed that the incumbent government was formed under Form-45 and demanded the ‘return’ of the mandate.
Another PTI leader, Faisal Javed, mentioned that a decision would be made today on whether the country needs elections or not.
Speaking to the media outside the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) in Islamabad, Faisal Javed emphasized that this case is about protecting the voters’ rights, questioning whether the voters’ voices are heard or not.
He asserted that the purpose of taking away the election symbol is to deprive the voters of their rights.
“In the election, the voters chose the PTI leader, and these seats should either go to PTI or the Sunni Ittehad Council,” Faisal Javed concluded.
