ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has decided to hold intra-party elections on December 1 following the Election Commission of Pakistan declared the earlier elections and null and void.
The decision to hold intra-party elections taken into the PTI core committee meeting. Sources said that Imran Khan will be elected as chairman of the Party unopposed while elections will be held on other party positions.
The aim of holding intra-party elections is to fulfil the electoral body directive by completing the process before December 13.
It is pertinent to mention here that the ECP had declared that PTI failed to conduct fair intra-party polls. PTI is required to conduct the re-election within 20 days of the decision and submit a report to the ECP within seven days after the elections.
Earlier today, the Election Commission of Pakistan had granted time to the Imran Khan’s lawyer to submit reply in case wither Imran Khan will remain the party chairman or not.
