LAHORE: The Punjab government has appointed new vice-chancellors for six women’s universities across the province following the conclusion of a summary approval period. Notable appointments include Dr. Bushra Mirza as Vice-Chancellor of Fatima Jinnah Women University, Rawalpindi, and Dr. Uzma Qureshi for Lahore College for Women University. Other appointees are Dr. Kanwal Amin at Government College Women University, Faisalabad, Dr. Shazia Bashir at Government College Women University, Sialkot, and Dr. Shazia Anjum at Government Sadiq College Women University, Bahawalpur.
This round of appointments comes amidst an ongoing disagreement between Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan and Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, which has caused delays in appointing vice-chancellors at other key public sector universities in the province.
Separately, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) has ordered a re-take of MDCAT 2024, further highlighting the need for effective administration within the educational sector.
