LAHORE: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of Punjab has arrested 38 terrorists in a series of intelligence-based operations conducted throughout the province this month.
The CTD’s crackdown targeted multiple cities, including Lahore, Rahim Yar Khan, Narowal, Rawalpindi, Multan, Jhang, Sargodha, Khanewal, Vehari, Bahawalpur, Lodhran, and Bahawalnagar. These operations were aimed at mitigating terrorism threats and preventing potential attacks.
Among those arrested were a banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) trained terrorist from Lodhran and a Daesh (Islamic State group) commander from Bahawalpur.
During these operations, CTD officials seized a significant amount of illegal materials, including explosives, hand grenades, firearms, mobile phones, and cash. These items are believed to have been intended for attacks on law enforcement agencies and other critical targets.
In total, the CTD Punjab conducted 449 intelligence-based operations across the province this month, highlighting their ongoing commitment to security and countering extremist threats.
