A leaked audio call allegedly involving senior leaders of the banned Joint Action Committee (JAAC) has surfaced, triggering fresh debate over the group’s role in recent protests in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
The recording reportedly features JAAC leaders Shaukat Nawaz Mir and Khawaja Mehran discussing protest-related matters in AJK. The authenticity of the audio has not yet been independently verified.
Minister of State for Law Barrister Aqeel Malik shared the audio clip on social media platform X, saying the alleged recording had brought several important issues to light.
He said that if the audio is verified, it could provide strong grounds for action against the banned organization and help expose its alleged intentions and activities.
Meanwhile, Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry said that authorities already possess multiple pieces of evidence related to the banned Action Committee. However, he described the alleged phone call as a matter of serious concern.
Talal Chaudhry stressed the need for a complete, comprehensive, and impartial investigation. He said the relevant institutions would take up the matter on an urgent basis and conduct the necessary inquiry.
The emergence of the leaked audio call has intensified attention on the activities of the banned group, with officials emphasizing the importance of establishing the facts through a transparent investigation.
