A lieutenant colonel was among six soldiers who embraced martyrdom during a fierce gun battle with terrorists in North Waziristan’s Spinwam area, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Saturday.
The exchange of fire occurred between October 4-5 during a clearance operation. ISPR confirmed that six terrorists, described as “Khwarij,” were also killed in the operation.
Lt. Col. Muhammad Ali Shaukat, 43, from Faisalabad, was leading the operation when he and five other soldiers—Lance Naik Muhammad Ullah from Khyber, Lance Naik Akhtar Zaman from Lakki Marwat, Lance Naik Shahid Ullah from Tank, Lance Naik Yousaf Ali from Lower Orakzai, and Sepoy Jameel Ahmad from Swat—sacrificed their lives.
The ISPR reiterated that these brave soldiers’ sacrifices will strengthen their resolve to eliminate terrorism. The clearance operation in the region is ongoing.
