Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari has announced that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has approved a cash reward of Rs10,000 for every worker involved in the Suthra Punjab Eid cleanliness operation.
According to the minister, the Suthra Punjab campaign was successfully completed across the province during Eid-ul-Adha. More than 184,000 sanitation workers took part in the operation, while 60,000 vehicles were deployed to ensure the timely collection and disposal of sacrificial animal waste.
Azma Bukhari said that workers removed around 360,000 tonnes of animal remains during the three days of Eid. She added that vehicles participating in the campaign covered a combined distance of nearly six million kilometres while carrying out cleanliness activities throughout Punjab.
The operation continued across major cities and districts, from Lahore and Attock to Multan, Rahim Yar Khan and Sadiqabad. Authorities also used rose water, phenyl and lime to control unpleasant odours and maintain hygienic conditions in areas where sacrificial animals were processed.
The minister said Maryam Nawaz closely monitored the Suthra Punjab operation during the Eid holidays. In recognition of the workers’ dedication and performance, the chief minister approved a special reward of Rs10,000 for each participant.
As part of the campaign, nearly 4,000 roads across Punjab were washed with rose water. Sanitation teams also cleaned around 60,000 mosques, imambargahs and Eid prayer grounds to maintain a clean environment for worshippers.
Azma Bukhari said citizens expressed satisfaction with the results of the Suthra Punjab campaign. She also claimed that the initiative’s helpline achieved a 100 percent complaint resolution rate during Eid, helping authorities respond quickly to public concerns and maintain cleanliness standards across the province.
