SUKKUR: Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), has said that terrorists from Afghanistan were permitted to enter Pakistan during Imran Khan’s leadership.
He spoke with reporters and pointed out that there appeared to be a deliberate plan to allow these terrorists to establish themselves in Pakistan once more. He questioned whether Imran Khan and former intelligence chief Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed were aware of the potential for these militants to once again target Pakistan’s armed forces.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari remarked that it is estimated how dangerous the policy of PTI Chairman was. Imran Khan opened the borders for terrorists, and he had a plan to settle terrorists in the country. Those who facilitated terrorists did not apprehend that terrorists would not take time in reaching Karachi.
Bilawal emphasized that the PPP has consistently advocated for a strong stance against terrorism and has worked to unite the nation against terrorist activities. Unfortunately, he noted that there has been a recent increase in terror incidents within the country. Furthermore, he raised concerns about American weapons left behind by Western forces in Afghanistan falling into the hands of terrorists. According to him, these weapons have not only made their way into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) but have also found their way to Pakistan’s riverine areas.
He said that terrorists have been resurfacing ever since the National Action Plan was not implemented. What is the reason behind terrorists resurfacing? The reason is that the Pakistan Peoples Party’s policy was not implemented. “All political parties used to say that we should negotiate with terrorists, but our stance was that we should not negotiate with them. It cannot be that on one hand we assist them and on the other hand we condemn them.”
The Chairman of PPP said that Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto also confronted terrorists head-on and did not back down even after terrorist attacks. The PPP made every possible effort to eliminate terrorism from Karachi to KPK.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari demanded a fair and equitable political environment for all political leaders, emphasizing that the current situation deprives them of equal opportunities to participate in the upcoming general elections. He expressed his objection to the lack of a level playing field for political leaders in the country.
Regarding the murder of Mahar, who was killed by unidentified armed motorcyclists in Sukkur on August 17, Bilawal mentioned the formation of a joint investigation team to look into the case. He extended condolences to the family of Jan Muhammad Mahar and pledged his party’s support.
Finally, Bilawal addressed the issues of high inflation and economic instability, attributing these factors to the rising unemployment rate in the country.
