PESHAWAR: At least three terrorists were killed in an Intelligence-Based Operation (IBO) in the Hasan Khel area of Peshawar on Wednesday.
According to police officials, the operation was initiated based on intelligence reports regarding the presence of terrorists in the area.
During the operation, two Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) personnel were martyred, and one sustained injuries.
In a separate incident, security forces eliminated a high-profile terrorist commander, Irfan Ullah aka Adnan, in an IBO in the Bajaur District. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operation took place on July 3, 2024, based on reports of the commander’s presence. Intense fire exchange during the operation resulted in the terrorist commander’s death.
CTD Six-Month Report:
In the first half of 2024, a total of 124 terrorists were killed and 322 were arrested in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province, according to a report by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD). The report detailed that 1,433 operations were conducted, preventing 55 terrorist attacks. Additionally, two suicide bombers were apprehended in Peshawar, averting a major attack.
The report highlighted the elimination of several terrorist commanders and associates, including Mohsin Qadir, Betni Padakye, Tipu Gul, members of the Zarar Group, Sunta, and the TTP Gandapur Group.
