ISLAMABAD: Fourteen terrorists were killed in Balochistan during an intelligence-based operation carried out by security forces in the Basima district, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The operation took place in the Naal area of Basima on June 8 after security agencies received intelligence about the presence of militants linked to Fitna al-Hindustan. Officials said the group was planning attacks on a nearby police station and several banks.
Acting on the information, security forces launched a swift operation to prevent the planned attacks. During the operation, troops tracked and engaged the militants, leading to an intense exchange of fire.
The ISPR said 14 terrorists were killed, while several others were injured. Security forces also destroyed four vehicles used by the militants and recovered and destroyed improvised explosive devices at the site.
During the firefight, Lance Havildar Muhammad Abbas embraced martyrdom while fighting bravely against the terrorists.
Security forces have launched a sanitisation operation in the area to clear any remaining militants and ensure the security of local residents.
The military’s media wing said counterterrorism operations under the national security framework Azm-e-Istehkam would continue across the country to eliminate foreign-sponsored terrorism and strengthen national security.
Pakistan has faced increased militant violence, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, since 2021. Security forces have continued operations against terrorist groups as part of ongoing efforts to maintain peace and stability.
