NATO member states have strongly voiced their support for Greenland, reaffirming collective defence commitments amid rising geopolitical tensions.
Addressing the World Economic Forum, Canadian Prime Minister said that an attack on one NATO country would be considered an attack on all, stressing that NATO allies stand firmly with Greenland and Denmark.
The Canadian leader’s remarks came amid growing concerns over statements related to Greenland’s strategic importance, prompting NATO countries to underline unity and shared security obligations.
French President Emmanuel Macron also sharply criticised the United States, describing the use of tariffs as a form of blackmail. He said Washington was attempting to weaken Europe and bring it under its influence, adding that Europe would not accept colonial-style behaviour.
Macron stated that Europe prefers respect over bullying, rule of law over cruelty, and would not surrender its sovereignty under pressure.
Meanwhile, speaking at the same forum, Danish Prime Minister said that Denmark would not compromise on sovereignty, national identity, territorial integrity, or democracy, reaffirming full support for Greenland.
On the other hand, US President Donald Trump claimed that no leader had done more for NATO than him. He said that without his leadership, NATO would not exist today and would have ended up “in the dustbin of history,” calling it an unfortunate but true reality.
