Security forces carried out a Balochistan intelligence-based operation in the Killi Zaik area on Monday, leaving at least two terrorists dead and three others wounded, according to security sources.
The raid took place in the stretch between Killi Zaik and Kaghli, roughly 12 kilometres north of the Baseema camp, after troops received credible reports about militants operating in the area.
Weapons and Bomb-Making Material Seized
Following the exchange, security forces recovered a cache of ammunition, hand grenades, magazines, and components used in assembling improvised explosive devices from the site. The seizure points to ongoing efforts by militant networks to stockpile materials for future attacks in the province.
This latest intelligence-based operation forms part of the broader Operation Rad-ul-Fitna-3, an ongoing counterterrorism campaign that the military’s media wing says specifically targets Indian-backed proxy elements operating within Pakistan’s borders.
Second Major Operation in Two Days
The Killi Zaik raid follows closely on the heels of another significant strike a day earlier, when security forces eliminated seven India-backed terrorists during an operation in Balochistan’s Kharan district. That operation unfolded in the Lajay area after intelligence reports flagged the presence of militants there.
Balochistan and neighboring Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have remained the epicentre of militant violence in Pakistan since 2021, when the Afghan Taliban regained control of Afghanistan. Security operations in both provinces have intensified as authorities work to contain the fallout.
Rising Violence Across KP and Balochistan
Data from the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS) paints a troubling picture for the second quarter of 2026. The two provinces together accounted for nearly 96% of all violence-related deaths recorded nationwide during that period, with KP bearing the brunt of the toll.
Of the total fatalities, more than 61%, amounting to 475 deaths, occurred in KP, while Balochistan recorded 265 deaths, or 34% of the total. KP also led in the number of violent incidents, logging 151 cases that made up 57% of the nationwide count, while Balochistan reported 94 incidents, representing 35%.
The figures underscore how militant activity, and the corresponding intelligence-based operations meant to counter it, remain heavily concentrated in these two provinces.
