Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has taken legal action in the Aishwarya Rai AI case, approaching the Delhi High Court after her name, voice, and images were allegedly misused in pornographic and sexually explicit content created with artificial intelligence.
According to Indian media, Rai’s lawyer, senior advocate Sandeep Sethi, informed the court that several digital platforms had exploited the actor’s likeness without her approval. He argued that her image and voice were being circulated online to “satisfy sexual desires,” creating deep harm to her dignity.
The plea highlighted that morphed and “unreal intimate photographs” of Aishwarya Rai were being shared on social media networks and websites. It also alleged that certain platforms were collecting money in her name, tricking users with fraudulent schemes.
Among the defendants named in the Aishwarya Rai AI case are websites like aishwaryaworld.com, apkpure.com, and bollywoodteeshop.com. The petition also mentioned global e-commerce platform Etsy, AI-driven chatbots, and YouTube channels such as NewNWSTamil and Bollywood_CinemaTV07. Even Google was listed as a respondent.
Government institutions, including the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and the Department of Telecommunications, have also been made parties in the matter.
During the hearing, the Delhi High Court signaled that it may issue an interim order restricting individuals and online platforms from misusing Aishwarya Rai’s identity. It further indicated that directions would soon be given for removing objectionable content and links.
The court has posted the plea before the joint registrar on November 7. The Aishwarya Rai AI case will continue with further proceedings scheduled for January 15.
