Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir delivered a strong message of gratitude and resolve during his visit to the Line of Control (LoC) on Eid ul Adha. He praised frontline troops for their brave role in Operation Bunyanum Marsoos. The army chief hailed their courage in avenging the deaths of innocent civilians. These included women, children, and the elderly who were targeted in India’s unprovoked attacks.
“You have given a bold and fitting response,” General Munir told the soldiers. He admired their fearless actions during the military operation launched after Indian provocations. The visit began with Eid prayers at the forward posts. Special prayers were offered for Pakistan’s peace, prosperity, and to honor the martyrs.
General Munir extended warm Eid greetings to the troops. He applauded their dedication, discipline, and commitment to duty. Celebrating Eid away from home, he said, reflects their strong spirit to protect the nation. Their service, even during festivals, serves a greater cause—the defense of Pakistan.
He praised their outstanding performance in Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, also referred to as Marqa-e-Haq. This combat mission was launched to counter Indian aggression. The field marshal paid rich tribute to the martyrs and war veterans. He called their sacrifices the backbone of national security.
While speaking with the troops, he expressed deep appreciation for their readiness and high morale. He praised their ability to deal with Indian ceasefire violations swiftly and decisively. According to ISPR, the Chief of Army Staff showed full confidence in the Armed Forces. He said the forces are fully prepared to defeat any hostile move.
He strongly reaffirmed Pakistan’s firm stance on the Kashmir issue. He called the Kashmiri struggle just and heroic. He stressed that their right to freedom must be upheld according to United Nations Security Council resolutions and the will of the Kashmiri people.
General Munir was received at the LoC by the Commander of Rawalpindi Corps.
The background to Operation Bunyanum Marsoos involves a recent series of border clashes. These erupted after 26 tourists were killed in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), in the Pahalgam area. India wrongly blamed Pakistan for the incident.
In response, India launched deadly and unprovoked strikes inside Pakistan for three days. Many civilians, including children and elders, were killed. Pakistan Armed Forces responded with Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, a well-planned retaliatory action.
During the counter-strike, Pakistan downed six Indian Air Force jets, including three advanced Rafales. Numerous Indian drones were also destroyed. The intense confrontation between the nuclear-armed neighbors lasted nearly 87 hours. It finally ended with a ceasefire on May 10, brokered by the United States.
