The government has formally moved to strengthen its coalition setup as it invites PPP to cabinet ahead of an expected reshuffle in the federal government.
According to sources, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has been offered a place in the federal cabinet. If the party accepts the proposal, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is likely to be given an important ministerial portfolio.
The expected development comes as the government prepares for a major cabinet reorganization following the approval of the 2026-27 federal budget.
Sources said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has sought performance reports from all federal ministers. The review is expected to guide decisions on changes in ministerial portfolios and the induction of new members into the cabinet.
Several ministries could see leadership changes as part of the reshuffle. These include the ministries of commerce, power, housing, communications, finance, and foreign affairs.
The planned reorganization may also affect a number of special assistants to the prime minister, with changes expected after the performance review process is completed.
Political observers view the government’s offer to the PPP as a significant step toward strengthening cooperation between coalition partners and ensuring broader political support for the government’s agenda.
No official announcement has yet been made regarding the final composition of the cabinet or the portfolios that may be reassigned.
