ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has approved a three-day physical remand for human rights lawyer Imaan Mazari and her husband, Hadi Ali Advocate, following their arrest on charges of obstructing government affairs. Judge Abul Hasnat Muhammad Zulqarnain issued the decision after reserving judgment on the case.
Represented by Advocates Zainab Janjua and Ahsan Pirzada, the couple was detained on allegations of breaching security and misbehaving with police at a check post.
Prosecution lawyer Raja Naveed, leading the case, initially requested a 30-day remand to facilitate forensic analysis of video evidence showing Mazari and Ali, noting that additional individuals appearing in the footage also need to be detained.
The court’s three-day remand aims to provide law enforcement sufficient time to investigate the charges and collect further evidence in this ongoing case.
