ISLAMABAD: Following the induction of seven judges into the Supreme Court on Friday, the seniority list has been officially updated, with Justice Mansoor Ali Shah now ranking as the most senior judge after Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Yahya Afridi.

Earlier in the day, six permanent judges and one ad-hoc judge were sworn into the Supreme Court, marking a significant expansion of the judicial bench under CJP Afridi. Justice Aamer Farooq, previously the Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court (IHC), was elevated to the Supreme Court, with Justice Sarfraz Dogar succeeding him as the new Chief Justice of the IHC.
The oath-taking ceremony was a historic moment, as it was conducted in an open-air setting outside the Supreme Court premises. This unprecedented arrangement was made to accommodate the large number of attendees who gathered to witness the event.
