RAWALPINDI: A delegation of Khyber Network visited Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) to present a comprehensive briefing on KAMTECH (Khyber Academy for Media Technologies) and explore opportunities for academic collaboration in the field of media and communication studies.
The visiting delegation included Mr.Kaiwan Hamid Raja (CEO Khyber Digital and ED Khyber Network), Mr.Bilal Nasr, Mr.Saifullah, Ms. Uzma Naz, and Ms. Ayesha Malik.
They were received by the faculty of the Media and Communication Department, including Head of Department Dr. Muhammad Ali, Dr. Shazia Hashmat, and Mohsin Raza.
The session formally began with a welcome note from the Head of Department, highlighting the importance of strengthening linkages between academia and the media industry to equip students with practical, job-oriented skills.
Presentation on KAMTECH
During the session, Mr.Kaiwan Hamid Raja delivered a detailed presentation on KAMTECH, explaining it as a strategic national initiative designed to modernize media education and professional training in Pakistan.

KAMTECH (Khyber Academy for Media Technologies) was introduced as a platform aimed at bridging Pakistan’s media skills gap by transforming decades of cultural and media infrastructure experience into a structured national training authority.
The initiative also includes the formation of the ATOM Council, an advisory and governance body comprising media owners, industry stakeholders, and university representatives. This council is envisioned to provide strategic oversight and ensure industry-relevant curriculum, training standards, and institutional coordination within the KAMTECH ecosystem.
Another key focus of KAMTECH is its target market and strategic partnerships framework, which includes universities as feeder institutions, government organizations, media houses, and international diplomatic missions to ensure broad-based collaboration and global exposure for trainees.
Discussion and Academic Engagement
Following the presentation, an interactive discussion session was held between the Khyber Network team and faculty members of FJWU’s Media and Communication Department. Both sides exchanged views on strengthening collaboration in areas such as media training, internships, digital content development, and applied research opportunities for students.

Faculty members appreciated the initiative and shared constructive suggestions regarding how such industry-driven platforms can be effectively integrated into academic programs to enhance student employability and skill development.
Purpose of the Visit
The primary purpose of the visit was to introduce KAMTECH as a national media training and development framework and to explore its alignment with academic institutions like Fatima Jinnah Women University. The initiative seeks to:
- Bridge Pakistan’s growing media skills gap through structured professional training
- Build strong academia-industry linkages for practical learning and internships
- Establish a governance framework (ATOM Council) for quality assurance and strategic direction
- Develop long-term partnerships with universities, media organizations, government bodies, and international partners
The session concluded on a positive note with mutual agreement on the importance of continued engagement between academia and the media industry. Both Khyber Network representatives and FJWU faculty expressed interest in future collaboration under the KAMTECH framework. The visit was seen as an important step toward strengthening Pakistan’s media education ecosystem and creating sustainable pathways between academic learning and professional media practice.
